Please note that the fuel that flows through this pump acts as both a coolant and lubricant for the fuel pump. An unrestricted flow of fuel is vital for the long, trouble-free lifespan of this pump. We at KLM Performance recommend changing the inline prefilter when replacing your fuel pump. The use of a FASS universal in-line fuel filter screen is required on this FASS Pump or any other motor using an inline prefilter to prevent damage to the fuel pump. This pre-filter fuel line strainer is a screening element that removes large pieces of debris from the fuel supply before they enter the pump and cause damage. These inline pre-filters can be used on any engine with a 3/8th" fuel supply line. If your fuel pressure has decreased, it is time to change your pre-filter in-line element. These filter elements are a Pre-Filter, not a Fuel Filter!
